I had steam coming out of my hood, no heat, knocking noises, squeaking, the engine was riding rough, and coolant was leaking, so I knew I had problems. I suspected a water pump failure, and decided to call around to a few shops for a quote. The Lexus dealer threw out the highest bid, and the other two shops were close but VAS was the best price. On top of that, they work with the Costco Auto program which saves 15% on parts and service. They use NAPA parts which are high quality and well priced... good value. Through NAPA they also give you a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on their work which is the best I've ever gotten from any shop. I got the car back in a day and it was running smooth and quietly purring like a brand new engine. The temperature gauge was actually slightly under the halfway point which I had never seen before, perhaps the effects of a new water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, and coolant flush. So far, I'm very pleased with the work and the value of VAS, and I'll likely return for future repairs. Chris and Terry were very helpful and nice. I read on their website that Terry is a deacon at his church so I hoped they'd be honest folks. Everyone's goal is to find an honest and competent mechanic, and I think I've found mine. Really amazing service and a warm welcome. They took care of my jammed window, state inspection and other things that were wrong with my car at a very affordable price. The dealership would have charged me an arm and a leg. Glad I came here

My experience here was fantastic. I am new to Virginia so I was a little worried about dealing with mechanics that I was unfamiliar with but after my visit I've found a new home for my car. All the work was explained. The office staff were very professional, polite and courteous in person and over the phone.

What absolutely amazing people at this shop! There's nothing like starting your work day with a broken down car and realizing you're not going to work after all. My starter decided to quit on me this morning and these guys took care of me, making sure I had an appointment set up so I didn't have to wait. I had my vehicle towed here at 11am and by 4pm, I was driving it out of there. Which is awesome for a costly repair like that, same day, just dropping it off with little more than a phone call for notice. Of course, 3 days before payday, I couldn't afford the sudden bill dropped on my lap, so these gentleman also got me set up with an easy pay financing option, which is REALLY going to help me out once payday does hit. I seriously cannot thank these guys enough for their hard work and kindness. Thanks so much!

7 a.m. appointment to get inspection/oil change. They took my vehicle promptly at 7 a.m., honored a coupon presented to them and allowed me to additionally add/pay for a fluid change. Got out around 8:15 a.m. which was early than anticipated. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Felt I was treated with respect and appreciation.

My transmission was replaced for my 2016 Nissan Rogue. I bought my rogue used and had no idea that I would need a new transmission, but once it was replaced I noticed that my car runs a lot better when I first purchased it. I am also very satisfied of the time frame and work performed and the expertise of Virginia Automotive Service.

Brought my truck in to get a nail taken out and a plug put in... not only did they take care of the plug in under 5 minutes, but they did it for free as it was an urgent situation. I will use complete automotive for all my car needs! These guys are the best!

Richard saved me today! I need my car for work and woke up to a dead battery this morning. My local shop couldn't see me until the afternoon and that wasn't going to work for me. Richard was very helpful and didn't hesitate to help me right away. He sent me to grab a coffee and had me all set and on my way before I could even ask for an update. I have a new local shop!

I came to Richmond from out of state to look at a used car for my daughter. Wanted to get it looked over by a mechanic before purchase. Looked online to find a local family-owned business like my home mechanic. I hit the jackpot! They worked me in promptly, finished within the expected time frame (40 min), and allowed me to dodge a bullet! In spite of the fact that this car had new brakes, new tires and a new timing belt (sounds great, right?), they found a leaky head gasket that had been missed by the seller's mechanic, and would be a very pricey repair. Not only did Richard at VA Automotive point this out and discuss the risk involved and cost of repair, but he took the time to work up a market valuation from the NADA website and discuss the price at which this car would be a value. In addition, he pointed out a recall issue that was outstanding on the car, and printed out the recall information for me. Service was above and beyond. If I lived in Richmond, I would never take my car anywhere else! Thank you so much for making me feel right at home, like one of your favorite, long-time customers.

I learned about this place because of the “members” program which gives you access to routine maintenance at discounted rates. Not only can they get most services done pretty quickly, but they’re always super attentive. Some mechanics will try to get you to spend as much as possible - but Virginia Automotive tells you what is essential and they give you a list of priorities so you can budget accordingly while maintaining your car in great shape! At this point, I don’t really trust any other mechanic shop because of the personalized experience I get with them.
