When my car's AC started to feel like a hair dryer set on low, locals referred me to VAS. I called from Chesterfield this morning at 7 AM and mentioned my concerns plus the fact that I still had to work in Tidewater later today. When I arrived, Richard quoted me an amazing price for an evacuation and coolant fill (with dye, in case of a future leak), signed me in, and asked for my keys. I had a light breakfast next door at the Corner Bakery (free wifi), and one hour later the call came that I needed to walk back and collect my car. Now the 60 degrees on the dashboard matches the temperature of the air leaving the vents! I will definitely return to them for service on my high milage (and still clean-running/sharp-looking) 2009 BMW. Thank you, VAS!!!

I am sort of a shade tree / backyard mechanic and tend to do a lot of the minor work on my own vehicle. My AC recently went out in my 2014 Nissan Maxima and I did the research and diagnosis to determine my AC compressor was shot. Research showed I also needed to replace the AC condenser, drier and TXV. I tore the front of my car off, replaced everything and put it back together. At this point the compressor clutch would not engage. I wanted to take my vehicle to someone smarter than I am. I did not previously have a relationship with a full-on mechanic shop in the area. On a recommendation from a colleague I brought my car to VAS. Often, when you tell a mechanic / shop that you have done some work on your car they make stupid faces and condescend to you. These folks were very understanding and said they'd do a complete diagnosis for me. I explained what I had done and they took notes. It wasn't very long after I dropped my car off that I was contacted and told the compressor I installed was dead out of the box. They explained the troubleshooting they had done in detail to confirm this. I was looking at a diagnostic fee, replacing the defective unit where I got it and then doing another tear down on my day off. They said they could work it out so they could get the part locally and I could pick my car up, repaired by the end of that day. I was figuring they were counting the money already... They quoted a very fair price for this expedited service and I jumped on it. My time, and theirs, is worth something and in this case, their courtesy, quick turnaround and technical aptitude sold me. I highly recommend this location in Glen Allen and will consider them again the next time I want to pay for work to be done.

I am not originally from this area and did not know where to go when my car recently broke down while I was driving to work on 95. As horrible as you can imagine that was, through Triple A I was able to quickly arrange a tow and they recommended Virginia Automotive Service to repair my vehicle. I have found the staff to always be very professional, extremely courteous, knowledgeable, thorough and competent. As a matter of fact, I have to chosen to use them going forward for all of my automotive needs. They understand the importance of having repairs done quickly and returning my vehicle as soon as possible. I actually decided to take my 2nd car there immediately after pickling up the car that broke down to ensure it would be road ready for my daughter who is getting her license in October. I trust them wholeheartedly and while everyone hates to spend money, my money has been well spent at this shop. I feel safe knowing that my daughter will be driving a car that was certified by them as "road ready".

Great service, a little expensive, but you won't need to keep going back for the same thing. They fix what's wrong the first time.
